Sales & Design Consultant – Residential Construction

Role Overview

We are seeking a Sales & Design Consultant with strong experience in construction project sales and residential design. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between client vision and technical feasibility, guiding homeowners through design consultations, preparing project estimates, and developing preliminary drawings.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-home and virtual design consultations with homeowners.

• Prepare conceptual designs and drawings using Chief Architect software.

• Develop detailed project estimates for additions, kitchen & bathroom remodels, basement finishes, and garage additions.

• Interpret and apply residential building codes and structural requirements in designs.

• Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to ensure accuracy and feasibility.

• Present proposals and manage client expectations throughout the sales process.

• Support the company’s marketing and client relationship efforts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in residential construction sales/design.

• Proficiency in Chief Architect (or similar design software).

• Strong knowledge of residential codes, structures, and construction methods.

• Experience with estimating residential projects (additions, kitchens, baths, basements, garages).

• Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to build trust with homeowners.

• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

Preferred Skills

• Background in architecture, construction management, or interior design.

• Familiarity with permitting processes in Northern Virginia counties.

• Experience in client-facing roles with proven sales performance.

Compensation

• Base salary + commission structure based on closed projects.
